Paul is a father of four and has been a teacher and school leader for nearly twenty years. He began teaching as a volunteer at an alternative school for children excluded from mainstream education in the UK and became the Head Teacher there for three years before moving into international education. Paul has lived and worked in more than a dozen countries worldwide since then, both as a teacher/administrator and as an ‘Inclusion’ workshop leader for the IBO. He most recently comes from Oman where he led an International School in Muscat.
Aldina is a Portuguese teacher who really wanted to be able to work in an alternative setting. She teaches all subjects up to year 6 and Portuguese to the older children also. She is also an examiner for the Portuguese Education system and works to support children who have problems within the Portuguese Educational system. She invents games and activities to ignite the children’s imagination and to allow them to also learn Portuguese along the way.
Tess is a Filipino national who has lived and worked half her life in the Middle East. She has worked in IB, Australian and British curriculum schools in Bahrain for over 12 years, as a learning support assistant, higher level teaching assistant and department manager for ‘Inclusion’ where she managed a team of 35 support assistants. Most recently, Tess has worked as an Art technician in the Seniors Department supporting students from KS3 to A levels and IB Diploma. She has worked with children of all ages and has been exposed to different styles of teaching in all subjects. With her TEFL and CTEYL teaching certificates in hand, she is eager to continue her teaching career in an alternative school setting.
Marta has been teaching for 12 years in various international settings, including Hong Kong, Australia, Uzbekistan and Iran. She is a bilingual, native Portuguese teacher with experience of teaching English as a foreign language. Although the majority of her experience is in Early Years and Primary, Marta enjoys teaching all ages and has taught Science at middle school level and has lead a Primary Department. Marta’s educational philosophy is centered in the child, believing in self-directed education and personalised learning.
